Dear Members,

Come join in Penang eXpdc Club’s Hari Raya expedition to the Andaman Coast. Our adventure will take us to Krabi; a bustling ancient town, famous for its night market, Relax in Khao Lak; a famous beach paradise, scenic Ranong and the historical Nakhon Si Thammarat. Our focal spot will be Ranong District. Crowned by green hills, Ranong is home to a diverse community of Thais, Chinese & Burmese. A major gateway into Thailand for Burmese migrants and traders, Ranong possesses a different vibe than other Thai towns. Away from the usual hustle & bustle of the over used tourist trail, Ranong offers an unseen part of Thailand, a relaxed pace of life and natural attractions. Places of interest are the Grass Hills, the numerous hot spring, Ranong Canyon and boat trip to Kaw Thung (Victoria Point) in Burma, Ngao Waterfall, Ngao Mangroves and others.

Places of Attraction

Ranong Grass Hill

Grass Hill or Phu Khao Ya is an unique landscape, unlike most hills; it is not cover with trees but only grass. A geographical anomaly. Feeling the wind here is itself on unique experience.

Natural Hot Spring

The best in Thailand, mineral water coming from the springs maintains a year round temperature of 65 degree Celsius. The water have proven healing qualities and often prescribed by doctors as a form of treatment.

Ngaos Waterfalls

Located near the Namtok Ngao National Park headquarters. This spectacular fall can be seen even faraway. Chao Phar crab, a new kind of crab in the world is found here. Located opposite Grass Hill.

Ranong Canyon

A unique landscape and a sight to behold. See the big catfish in the lake! Watch them jump when you feed them!

Victoria Point (Kaw Thaung) - (AT OWN ARRANGEMENT AND EXPENSES)

A more conducive route will be via a visit to the Andaman Club – one island, one casino & one resort – before landing in Kaw Thaung.

As in past events, the organizing Committee will strive to do their best to make this event

an enjoyable and memorable one. If you browse through the itinerary below, you can notice that we will be covering most of Thailand’s Andaman Coast, hence the event title. Our places of stay were carefully picked to minimize driving distant and at the same time savouring different experiences.

Tentative itinerary

7.9.2010

All participants to gather at Gurun R & R by 7am. Flag off at 7.30am. After completion of immigration procedure, Re-convoy in front of KPK Hotel, Danok. Convoy departs for Krabi. Enjoy the old town charm and authentic food

8.9.2010

Krabi to Khao Lak enjoy sea, sun & surf and get ready for eXpdc grand dinner!

9.9.2010

Khao Lak to Ranong. Visit Grass Hill & Ngao Waterfall. Dinner at hotel.

10.9.2010

Free n Easy

Option 1 - follow Main convoy to places of attraction

Option 2 - to Andaman Club – Victoria – at own expenses.
